Applicants whose native tongue and medium of University instruction is not English are required to demonstrate their English proficiency by means of TOEFL* / IELTS** test scores. Applicants who graduated from English-medium Universities may be required to sit for the TOEFL/IELTS test, at the discretion of NUS Engineering, so as to assess their suitability for admission.
*TOEFL is the abbreviation for the Test of English as a Foreign Language.
**IELTS is the abbreviation for the International English Language Testing System.

To meet the English requirement for our M.Sc. programmes in Engineering, the minimum score expected is :
The TOEFL score or IELTS result is only valid for 2 years after the test and should be valid at the beginning of the application period for the designated MSc degree.
Applicants will need submit the scanned copy of their TOEFL / IELTS scoresheets during their online application. For verification purposes, the original copy can either be:
(a) verified upon admission; or
