Undergraduates can choose from programmes that range from Bioengineering to Mechanical Engineering. These courses are designed to develop creativity and leadership qualities, while enabling you to build up expertise in your chosen branch of Engineering.
From the start of Academic Year 2009/10, there are two new exciting learning pathways. One is the Global Engineering Programme, an accelerated track for the brightest and best. Through this track, students can gain advance placement credits via self-study modules and obtain exemption from specific modules. They should be able to obtain their B.Eng. degree within three years and pursue a postgraduate degree at a top partner university in the fourth year. They can also opt to do a Ph.D. Students who qualify will be awarded scholarships by NUS for their undergraduate studies. The Faculty will also work with external agencies to provide financial support for one year or more of graduate school.
We are also offering a Innovation & Design-Centric Programme, an innovative and flexible learning pathway to educate engineers of tomorrow with the knowledge and skills to help solve major problems such as climate change, natural disasters, ageing-related healthcare and other challenges. This Curriculum will provide students with extensive exposure to real-life design projects and design-focused modules throughout their course.
In line with the aim of nurturing business-savvy engineers, we also offer Double Degree Programmes in Engineering & Business Administration as well as Engineering & Economics.
Graduate students can look forward to being immersed in a vibrant research-intensive environment in any of our eight departments/divisions as they pursue a higher degree leading to a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Master of Engineering (M.Eng.). They will be closely mentored by faculty members whose research interests encompass a wide range of cutting-edge projects.
Special enhancement programmes pave the way for students to participate in and experience multiple facets of industry and business with a global perspective – from R&D, design, manufacturing, and intellectual property generation, to starting a technology-based business. Stretch you potential as you design a car, build robots or devise a new method to detect pollution. You may find yourself winning national and international competitions.
