Assoc Prof Chua Kian Jon Ernest from NUS Mechanical Engineering received the Best Paper Award at the recent IEEE-organised International Conference on Green Energy for Sustainable Development (ICUE2018) held in Phuket, Thailand (24 – 26 Oct 2018).

Assoc Prof Chua is recognised globally for his research works on ‘green’ air-conditioning, cooling and dehumidification systems. His award-winning paper entitled “A hybrid air conditioning system employing membrane dehumidification and dew-point cooling” documents the development of the world’s first decoupled dehumidification and cooling method using membrane technology and a break-through counter-flow dew-point cooler to provide cool dried air.

ICUE 2018 offers a platform to exchange research ideas, experiences, technical, social, financial, economic and policy issues covering greening energy utilisation. More than 150 international papers were presented in 22 parallel sessions competed for the Best Paper Award.
