TIP Programme Details

EG1603A: TIP -Instructional Workshops and Seminars (2 MCs)

This module consists of the following components:

  • TIP Workshops

  • At least 4 "TIP Seminars"

  • 1 summary report on the 4 "TIP Seminars" attended.

Students MUST complete ALL the components in order to obtain 2 modular credits.

TIP Workshops - approximately 20 hours

The workshops are not open to students in their final semester, and also not open to Technopreneurship Minor students.

The TIP workshops will cover, for example, an overview of the venture process, business plan development, teaming, financials, evaluation of ideas, intellectual property protection, raising capital, negotiations, and lessons from successes and failures. The timing and details of the TIP Workshops will be announced by e-mail to all students registered on the TIP.   Interested students will then apply, via email, to Dr Bauly (engjb@nus.edu.sg).

Students must achieve full attendance and substantially participate in the exercises and discussions.

TIP Seminars - day time or evenings, at NUS or elsewhere

Approximately 3 seminars per semester will be available on technopreneurship and related topics. These will be announced by e-mail to all students registered on the TIP.  You may click here to check out the current (& archived) seminars as well.

Students must attend at least 4 seminars.  With effect from 14 July 2003, all TIP students on the MC system i.e. matriculated in AY02-03 onwards, must also submit to their Department TIP Representative a summary report of what they have learnt from the Seminars; typically around 800 words, maximum of 1000 words, for the 4 seminars.

Note:

·      Students must bring along the TIP Log Sheet for the workshop and seminar organisers for endorsement (to certify attendance).

·      Attending additional workshops and seminars will not score additional credits.
