    Mr Soo Kok Leng

    Mr Soo was with Hewlett-Packard S. (Pte) Ltd for about 20 years (1977 – 1996) during which he was involved for 15 years in various aspects of management in the integrated circuits business. This included being responsible for worldwide operations based in Oregon , U.S.A. from Sep'89 to Feb'92 after which he was HR Director for HP South East Asia.

    In Dec'96, he joined Falmac Ltd as Executive Director/Group GM responsible for its global business. The company develops, manufactures, and markets industrial knitting machines with manufacturing operations in Singapore , China , and a manufacturing agreement in Egypt .

    In Dec'97, he helped start up 3Com Technologies ( US computer network product company) as VP/Managing Director in Singapore. He left in 2001.

    Apart from being appointed a Non-Resident Ambassador to an European country, he is currently the Chairman of ST Electronics Ltd, JTC Corporation and Mt Faber Leisure Group (Pte) Ltd, and Director of MediaCorp Singapore (Pte) Ltd, Tiger Airways (Pte) Ltd., Cradance Services (Pte) Ltd, Wildlife Reserve Singapore (Pte) Ltd, and Sentosa Development Corporation. He is also Corporate Advisor to Temasek Holdings (Pte) Ltd and ST Engineering Ltd, and is a Governor of the Singapore-China Foundation and member of Singapore-Liaoning Economic & Trade Council and the Dean's Advisory Board, Faculty of Engineering, NUS. He was also appointed Honorary Advisor to the Binhai New Economic Area, Tianjin , China in 2005.

    He was formerly also Chairman of Embrace Ltd, Singapore Cruise Centre (Pte) Ltd and Singex group of companies, and director of HP S (Pte) Ltd, Falmac Ltd, 3 Com Asia Pacific (Pte) Ltd, Advance Systems Automation Ltd and APS (Pte) Ltd.

     

    Interests

    Mr Soo's main interest is in Systemic Strategic Management and Cultural Fluency. He had presented seminars and provided consultancy to various local and multinational companies (MNC) both here and as far as Nigeria , Africa .

    He had also presented papers/speeches including a paper on “ Application of the Karl Fisher Coulometric Titration method in the study of moisture in plastic encapsulated packages” at the International Symposium on IC Design and Manufacture (ISIC-85 Proceedings, Nanyang Technological Institute, Singapore 19-20 Sep'85) and was invited to deliver t he Keynote Speech: “Searching for new SME paradigms in an era of emerging Asian economies” at the 12 th East Asian Entrepreneurs' Summit held in Suwon, South Korea in 2004.
