A University Senior Fellow covering all aspects of NPD, i.e. New Product Development – as a Business Process including Management of Technology (MOT) , marketing, design, etc.). Also an NPD consultant. Previously worked as line Manager/Director/Practitioner in business management, R&D, and NPD. International experience – including UK, Europe, USA, and the Far East .
- Introduction and teaching of University modules on NPD, as a business process. Conducting research. Organisation of major conferences. Organised and delivered workshops for industry. Planning and start-up of a “Technopreneurship and Incubation Programme.”

NPD workshops for industry, on NPD and MOT, 2-3 days. Setting up and presenting them.
Research: major surveys of NPD status in all mass/batch manufacturing companies in Singapore .
Research: initial survey of the use of CAD for design analysis, - in Singapore companies.

CHRONOS RICHARDSON LTD, Nottingham , UK , and Bonn Germany $100 m turnover. Machinery and controls for granular/powder bulk product weighing, bagging, and rubber batch blending e.g. for automobile tyres. World-wide markets.
Consultant – as Project Manager
Planned and project-led the transfer of all manufacturing from Germany to UK .
Full-time hands-on, for the outsourcing of all prime manufacture, standard costing, cost
reduction and supplier relationships.
Assisted with improvements to the NPD “live order engineering” process.
Assisted with re-structure of the group companies in UK , Germany and USA .

Developed and launched 3 major new products, $140 m p.a. world-wide sales, exceeding expectations and assuring continued viability of the UK manufacturing plant.
Built up the product management capabilities, including teaming, programme management, ISO 9000, etc

ITT Industrial & Automotive Products Group, $5000 m sales world-wide Division Manager, R&D, Industrial & Automotive Products Development Unit and assistant to Group Technical Director in Brussels H-Q
45 staff, based at the STL International ITT Laboratories, Harlow , UK
Started/built up/managed the NPD Unit and its Programmes via contracts with ITT manufacturing companies world-wide.
Developed several advanced controls, fluid handling and automotive products, through to manufacture, which with technology transfer generated over $200m p.a. of sales.
1962-1973 CLARKE, CHAPMAN – NEI Gateshead, Newcastle upon Tyne , UK
Nuclear and Fossil fired Power Plant, $1700 m sales. Director for R&D in Advanced Technology Division, appointed 1970, (mainly development and design of power stations, and gas turbines)
Took lead role in building up R&D and design capabilities in the Nuclear Power Station technologies, (Advanced Gas Cooled Reactors) vital to secure and fulfil several major power station design and build contracts.(All still in service)
3 months leading trouble-shooting of vibration problems at major power plant in Japan .
