Bachelor's Degree with Minor in Management of Technology (MOT)

    Jointly Offered by

School of Business (BIZ) and Faculty of Engineering (FoE)

    Motivation

Technology plays a key role in the growth of a business. Management of Technology (MOT) has been increasing in since the early 1980's. This new proposed Minor in Management of Technology (MOT) aims to bridge the gap between engineering and business undergraduate education through a prescribed set of modules, offered to students in Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science and School of Computing. This Minor program allows Science and Technology based undergraduates to learn Business aspects important to MOT without sacrificing disciplinary depth in their major fields of study. Our informal interactions with industry and business have indicated the need for such a program for our undergraduates. Furthermore, informal discussions with students have also indicated a strong interest from our students.

    Learning Objective and Outcomes

The objective of the Minor in MOT program is for graduates to be able to function effectively in a technical and interdisciplinary environment typical to technology oriented business. Graduates would know business implications of technology and be able to appropriately use technology. This program is offered to undergraduates in the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science and School of Computing.

The learning outcome is: Graduates who understand market forces and the financial implications of technology investment.

    Eligibility

The Minor in MOT program is open to undergraduates in Faculty of Business, Science and School of Computing who will be in their second or third year of studies. Students who were admitted into Minor in Business or Minor in Technopreneurship programs are not eligible to apply to the Minor in MOT Program. The Minor in MOT Program is mutually exclusive to these two Minor programs.

There are still vacancies for AY2008/2009 intake. Please drop us an email for application details.
