The symposium will provide interested colleagues the opportunity to showcase their work, identify suitable collaborators as well as propose potential projects for possible funding in the following two areas:
1) Cardiovascular Disease
2) Surgical technique, Tissue Engineering and Implant Science
This first workshop will focus on cadiovascular, surgical and implant sciences and technologies.
The tentative program for the workshop is as follows:
0900 - 0915: Opening remarks
0915 - 1030: Presentations to introduce each other’s areas (break into different themes: cardiovascular; surgical and implant sciences & technologies)
1030 – 1100: Tea break
1100 – 1300: Breakout session for each theme for further detailed discussion between colleagues from engineering and medicine
1300: Lunch
Colleagues who are interested in attending the workshop to present 2 – 3 slides on their work should register with Yee Chin (engcyc@nus.edu.sg) and send her the 2 – 3 slides by Monday 2 November 2009. After the workshop, we will accept joint (Engineering and Medicine) proposals (that fit the themes of the workshop) for seed funding (up to $50k for 1 year) up to 1 December 2009 (the deadline).
