The Department of Civil Engineering invites applications for:
Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Steel Offshore Structures
Assistant Professor QIAN Xudong
Department of Civil Engineering
The Department of Civil Engineering at the National University of Singapore is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with a Civil Engineering background to pursue research in the area of ductile fracture and failure assessment for welded tubular connections.
The research work involves experimental investigation on both large-scale tubular connections and small-scale fracture specimens. The numerical part of the research work focuses on the development of an engineering procedure to extend the laboratory measured material toughness to the design and failure assessment of tubular connections widely used in offshore structures. The applicant should have a PhD degree in civil or mechanical engineering, with a background and interest in experimental work on steel structures/specimens. He/she should also be familiar with numerical analysis and programming using commercially available tools. Research experience in fracture related problems will be an added merit, but not a requirement.
