The Department of Civil Engineering invites applications for:

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW IN NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF TURBULENT WAVES

Principal Investigator

Assistant Professor BAI Wei
Department of Civil Engineering

Description

Applications are invited for the position of Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on a project which will develop a numerical model to simulate the free surface turbulent waves and their interactions with coastal structures in the Department of Civil Engineering at the National University of Singapore.

The successful applicant is expected to have a doctorate, or be very close to completion, in civil engineering, ocean engineering, naval architecture, mechanics or a relevant discipline. Experience with, or expertise in, independently developing computational fluid dynamics codes in a high level language (FORTRAN preferred), solving fluid motion equations by means of numerical techniques such as finite volume or finite difference methods, together with interest and enthusiasm for studying ocean waves with complicated free surface and high turbulence are essential. Excellent communication and team working skills with the ability to perform novel research and write research papers are also required. Experience with implementation of the level set method and/or the detached eddy simulation are desirable.
