Joint BEng Degree in Civil Engineering
 
The Department of Civil Engineering, NUS has launched a Joint BEng degree programme in Civil Engineering with the University of Melbourne (UM) in Academic Year 2005/06. This programme provides a unique educational experience for the students involved. UM hosts one of the top civil engineering departments in Australia. It possesses a strong programme in hydrology and a structural engineering program with emphasis on earthquake and blast loading that NUS students could benefit from. With the integration of the NUS and UM academic programmes, a much broader range of elective subjects are made available to students of both institutions.
   
 
 
NUS students in this joint degree programme will either spend 5 semesters at NUS and 3 semesters at UM (Plan A) or 4 semesters each at NUS and UM (Plan B). Students will only need to pay tuition fees to their home institution. The joint nature of the degree will be reflected on the degree scroll which shows the coat-of-arms for both institutions.
