Hugh Mason holds a BSc (Hons) degree from University of Bath in Physics and Physical Electronics and completed his MA in Leading Innovation and Change at York St John University in 2013. Beginning his career as an electronic engineering apprentice, he went on to read Physics at the University of Bath, UK. Shortly after graduating he became a Science TV producer, joining the BBC’s science TV show, Tomorrow’s World. He is a serial entrepreneur who founded two companies before coming to Singapore in 2010, Narrateo, that produced popular science television for broadcast and corporate clients including BBC, Discovery & National Geographic, and Pembridge Partners, a venture fund for business acceleration. Pembridge Partners provided finance and advice to marketing, media and technology companies. With best-selling science author and broadcaster Simon Singh MBE, he also co-founded the Undergraduate Ambassadors Scheme, a UK charity which has inspired hundreds of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths undergraduates to take up teaching as a career, filling a critical supply gap in the UK education sector. Brainfruit: Turning Creativity into Cash – From East to West, the book Hugh co-authored with Dr Mark Chong of Singapore Management University, was published by McGraw Hill in October 2011. He is currently cofounder & CEO of JFDI which builds new business ventures with entrepreneurs and enterprises, specializing in agile innovation to start- and scale up joint ventures around themes such as Aging Population, Mobility and Smart Cities.
